Valle Las Palmas

For ‘Valle Las Palmas’ the challenges encountered were diverse in nature and in their level of complexity.  Issues ranged from establishing a new land planning and urban design paradigm consequent with the dictates of the Twenty First Century to advocating for the adoption of a model of urban policy rooted in sustainable outcomes, including handling issues related to the following: economy of scale, land and resource allocation, systems and infrastructure implementation, management, governability and finding innovative approaches to community building. While employed by Design Workshop, the team members of SBD-studio led the planning and urban design efforts and activities to achieve a “historic undertaking” as was later coined by Mexico’s president Felipe Calderon.  Our role extended beyond that of planning to include becoming the voice responsible for propagating a renewed attitude to matters of the built environment, sustainability, and for continual contributions to more equitable social and economic strategies in México.
