Hulburd Residence

The design concept for the enclosed garden area located west of the entry courtyard will adopt the following organizing principles: A. Open-up the space by strategically removing or reducing elements which in the aggregate render the space unnoticeable or difficult to engage both physically and visually. B. Introduce both new garden elements and incorporate existing ones ensuring that their presence enhances and agrees with the vision of establishing a garden framework  C. Adopt a plant palette responsive to local climate conditions and befitting of the Arcadia District’s image, celebrating and maintaining the idea of an Oasis in the desert. D. Iconic garden elements will be organized to deliver an awe inspiring garden moment E. Complement the existing architecture of the house by introducing forms, colors, materials and textures which merit their inclusion assisting in celebrating memorable ‘al fresco’ moments.
